Mr and Mrs De Jesus of Howick Spar are assisting as well and plan to paint the centre.
Gayle Meikle sent a gift of money (R650) to Thandi to assist her personally in these difficult times.
I have been thinking so much of Thandi lately and the lack of fundraising my side. I have some charity money left over from the Zim Aids initiative and I can't think of a better way to donate it that to Inkanyiso. I know that you guys are closest to it, so would you mind terribly coordinating it for me? I don't mind how the money is spent, but obviously for the betterment of the kiddies and the centre in whatever way is most urgent/ best. It would be great to have an update from Thandi if poss on how she is doing also and happy to help with the content of the web site if it needs to be updated/ rewritten. Just let me know.
Thanks and lots of love to you all. Leroy, proper update and news from me to follow soon!
Dr Rob Smorfitt has donated 30 litres of paint for this project.
Has undertaken to donate R1000 worth of food per month for one year to Inkanyiso Day Care Centre. The food, which includes fresh fruit and vegetables is delivered every second month. This has relieved the daily pressure of finding food for the children.
Funds raised by the Poker event, have so far paid for the TV licence for 2009 and 2010, as well as providing stipends for the volunteers for the months of August and October.
It is intended to pay the monthly fee to Knight Alarms for armed response as well as to continue to pay a stipend to the volunteers who happily come to the school to care for the children without any financial reward. Funds will also be put aside to assist with general repairs and upkeep of the buildings.
Private individuals as well as the ladies of the Methodist Church in Howick continue to donate food, clothing and other useful articles.
Bombers Equestrian Equipment paid for repairs to the alarm system.
Dear Inkanyiso
Just to let you know that you will be our 'family charity' once again this Christmas. We very much appreciate the emails and photo that you have sent in the past telling us what our donation was used for. We also have looked at your website, which was very informative, and really shows what wonderful work you all do with a group of very special children.
We hope that you received the donation from our family last Christmas (about 1800 Rand I think). We deposited it directly into your South African bank account in the early part of the year.
We will be thinking of you when we get together this Christmas and we have agreed that each family member will give a donation again this year. You should receive this just after Christmas.
Best Wishes to all the children and volunteers at Inkanyiso, From the McRory Family and Friends.
My recuitment agent, Mike O'Flynn donated £250 of his commission to Inkanyiso! Any one in IT looking for employment please contact Exposed Solutions. 117 Waterloo Road, London, SE1 8UL. t. 08701 678901 f. 020 7902 1133.
We have had a donation of an entire lounge suite from Ann and Ian Morrow of Swazulu Furnishers. It consists of 2 x 2 seaters and 2 x 1 seaters. I was able to show Thandi when she came in to see me last week and she was thrilled.
Both Leroy and Keri have obtained cash donations £250 and R400 respectively. This will really boost the bank account. At last the volunteers are receiving a small financial reward for their time, the electricity is being paid and there is a reasonable amount of food on a daily basis for the children.
Please see my deposit of £20 to Inkanyiso for Christmas; I hope that it will be used to make Thandi and the children's Christmas or New Year a little bit brighter. Well done for everything you have achieved this year.
It just keeps coming - just received 10 kgs of mealie meal from Ann Morrow - isn't it great that donations just keep coming!.
Keri Strachan - Last week we were contacted by a lady (a sister of one of the girls who was at Chris's poker evening), who had a whole heap of baby clothes and toys that she wanted to donate to the care centre. Craig and I collected what she had and we were amazed at how much she had given us, there was about 4 boxes and 6 black bags of what seemed to be clothes and linen.
Itayi has made a huge donation of £50 to Inkanyiso Daycare Centre. This money is still in my UK account, and when next I transfer money home I will make a direct payment into the Inkanyiso bank account with her name as the reference. Will update this entry when it has been done and note the exchange rate I got. Thanks Itayi, that will be at least R700.
Working at the Daily Mirror has its benefits! Thanks Dougal for the 54 kids DVD"s. They will love them.
